Islamic sect, founded in India in 1889 by M 012B; rz 0101; Ghul 0101; m Ahmad .

It holds that Jesus feigned death and resurrection and escaped to India and that jihad is a peaceful battle against nonbelievers. Following the death of Ghul 0101; m A 1E25; mad's successor (1914), the A 1E25; madiyyah split. The Qadiani, based in Rabwah, Pak., recognize Ghul 0101; m A 1E25; mad as a prophet; they are zealous missionaries, preaching A 1E25; madi beliefs as the one true Islam . A Lahore-based sect regards Ghul 0101; m A 1E25; mad merely as a reformer and seeks to make converts to Islam generally. The term A 1E25; madiyyah is also used to describe various Sufi orders (see Sufism ), particularly that founded by A 1E25; mad al-Badaw 012B; (d. 1276). One of the most popular orders in Egypt, it has branches throughout the Islamic world.
