He was placed on the throne by the imperial vizier Im 0101; d al-Mulk Gh 0101; z 012B; al-D 012B; n and was always the puppet of more powerful men, including the Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Durr 0101; n 012B; , whose agents occupied Delhi in 1757 and made Alamg 012B; r the nominal emperor of Hindustan. He was murdered by Gh 0101; zi al-D 012B; n, who feared Alamg 012B; r might be captured and used against him in another Afghan invasion.
