British physicist.
He received a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and began building on earlier work done by Josephson effect in superconductivity, he shared a Nobel Prize with Esaki and Giaever in 1973. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1970 and was named a professor at Cambridge in 1974.
