ANTONINA

port, eastern Paran state, southeastern Brazil, at the head of the Baa (bay) de Paranagu, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean, northwest of the port of Paranagu and east of Curitiba, the state capital. Wood and mat (tea), from Ponta Grossa, 100 mi (160 km) inland, and bananas and iron ore are exported. There is some iron smelting, based on nearby magnetite deposits. Other industries include rice processing, wood veneer production, sugar and flour milling, and the manufacture of rope and soap. Pop. (1980 prelim.) 11,950.
