town, northwestern Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. It lies on a tributary of the Rio Cacheu and is surrounded by the Casamance woodland, which provides hardwoods for export. A power station supplies the town's industry, which includes a sawmill. Subsistence agriculture predominates in the surrounding area, and corn (maize), sorghum, millet, sweet potatoes, cassava, and beans are the principal crops. Bissor is connected by road with Bissau, the national capital. Pop. (1979) mun., 39,913.
