CHUM SALMON

also called Calico Salmon, or Dog Salmon (Oncorhynchus keta), lightly speckled North Pacific fish, family Salmonidae, weighing about 3.6 kg (8 pounds). During the spawning season in autumn, it swims more than 3,200 km (2,000 miles) up the Yukon River. (See also salmon.)
