GANGANAGAR

formerly Sri Ganganagar, town, extreme northern Rajasthan state, northwestern India. During the 1970s it grew rapidly as an agricultural distribution centre. The town has textile, sugar, and rice mills. A meteorological station and several colleges affiliated with the University of Rajasthan are located there. Pop. (1981) town, 123,692.
