HALLOYSITE

clay mineral that occurs in two forms: one is similar in composition to kaolinite, and the other is hydrated. Both forms have a lower specific gravity than kaolinite, are fibrous rather than platy, and may exhibit a prismatic tubular shape. For detailed physical properties, see clay mineral (table).
