Meaning of KARLSKOGA in English

town, in the ln (county) of rebro, south-central Sweden, at the north end of Mckeln (lake). Karlskoga is a modern industrial town that was incorporated in 1940. With the exception of the church (c. 1400), most of its important buildings are of 20th-century origin. Rail lines connect the area with Stockholm and Oslo, and a major highway runs through the town. Nearby at Bofors is an armament plant formerly owned by Alfred Nobel and today renowned for its manufacture of antiaircraft and antitank guns. Pop. (1992 est.) mun., 33,649.
