KRONOBERG

ln (county) of southern Sweden, part of the traditional landskap (province) of Smland. Kronoberg consists of a rolling plateau of woods and marshland. Of its numerous lakes, snen and Mckeln are the largest; it is drained by the Mrrums, Helga, Lagan, and many smaller rivers. Industries are based largely on forest products, and Kosta is a well-known glass-manufacturing centre. Additional towns are Vxj, the capital, and Ljungby. The ln is crossed by the trunk railway from Malm to Stockholm. Area 3,266 square miles (8,458 square km). Pop. (1992 est.) 178,612.
