Meaning of MAISON-CARRE in English

Roman temple at Nmes, Fr., in remarkably good repair. According to an inscription, it was dedicated to Gaius and Lucius Caesar, adopted sons of Augustus, and dates from the beginning of the Christian era. The Maison-Carre, 82 feet (25 m) long by 40 feet (12 m) wide, is one of the most beautiful monuments built in Gaul by the Romans. It houses a collection of Roman sculpture and classical fragments.
