Meaning of MURZZUSCHLAG in English

town, Bundesland (federal state) Steiermark, east-central Austria, at the junction of the Frschnitz and Mrz rivers, northeast of Bruck an der Mur. First mentioned in 1227, it was chartered in 1318 and has been an ironworking centre since the 14th century. It has medieval houses and a former Cistercian abbey with a church from 1496 and beautiful cloisters. An Alpine summer and winter resort of the Semmering region, Mrzzuschlag is a noted skiing centre. Pop. (1981) 10,774.
