In nature this pine grows to a height of 60 m (200 feet), with a trunk sometimes reaching 3 m (10 feet) in diameter. The wood of large trees is used in construction, furniture, and shipbuilding. The sapling stage is grown throughout the world as a houseplant and as an outdoor ornamental in regions with a Mediterranean climate.
