Meaning of ROSEVILLE in English

city, Macomb County, southeastern Michigan, U.S., near Lake St. Clair, just northeast of Detroit. Although a post office was established in 1836, the community developed because of an influx of Irish and German settlers about 1843. With the industrial expansion of Detroit after 1918, Roseville increased in size, remaining part of Erin Township until incorporated as a village in 1926. Now mainly residential, it includes some light industry. Inc. city, 1958. Pop. (1990) 51,412.
