Meaning of SARINDA in English

folk fiddle of India played by the lower castes. It is of central Asian origin and comes in a variety of peculiar shapes, often resembling a pouch or bag. The body is constructed of wood and has a short neck without frets, lateral pegs inserted in a cubed pegbox, and three horsehair or gut strings. The sarangi, a version popular in northern India, usually has a fourth string made of wire.
