city, Hauts-de-Seine dpartement, Paris region, France. Svres is a southwestern residential suburb of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine River where it loops north around the Bois de Boulogne. It is famous for the Manufacture Nationale de Svres, established in the area by Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, in 1756. A museum of porcelain is located at the manufactory. Pop. (1982) 20,184.
