born 1536/37, Nakamura, Owari province [now in Aichi prefecture], Japan died Sept. 18, 1598, Fushimi original name Hiyoshimaru feudal lord and chief Imperial minister (158598), who completed the 16th-century unification of Japan begun by Oda Nobunaga.
