Meaning of TRICART, JEAN-LON-FRANOIS in English

born Sept. 16, 1920, Montmorency, Fr. French geographer and geomorphologist known for his extensive regional studies in South America and Africa. Tricart was a faculty member of the University of Paris from 1945 until 1948, when he moved to the University of Strasbourg. He founded and was director of the Centre of Applied Geography at Strasbourg from 1957. In 1971 he became professor at the Universit Louis Pasteur (Universit de Strasbourg I). He did research on the development and utilization of natural resources. Tricart was co-author of Trait de gomorphologie, 6 vol. (1981; Treatise on Geomorphology) and author of Principes et mthodes de la gomorphologie (1965; Principles and Methods of Geomorphology) and Gomorphologie des rgions froides (1963; Gomorphology of Cold Environments, 1970).
