city, south-central Gujarat state, west-central India. Vera val lies on the Arabian Sea coast of the Kathiawar Peninsula and is part of the Patan urban agglomeration. Its port principally handles timber and agricultural products. Matches, textile bobbins, and bone fertilizer are manufactured in the city, and there is offshore fishing. The ruins of the ancient city and Hindu temple of Somnath are nearby. Veraval is a railway terminus and lies on a major highway. Pop. (1991 prelim.) 93,826.
