an English actor, best known for her film roles in Mary Poppins (1964), for which she won an Oscar , and The Sound of Music (1965). Because of these roles, people tend to see her as a healthy, cheerful, moral person, although she has tried to change this impression in later films. She is married to the US film producer Blake Edwards .
