a British newspaper owner and politician. He was born in Canada, but settled in Britain and became a Member of Parliament in 1910. He was a Cabinet minister in both World Wars. He bought the Daily Express and the Evening Standard and started the Sunday Express . He used these newspapers to try to make various ideas popular, such as his desire to preserve the British Empire .
