(1925– )

a British theatre director who became famous in the 1960s and 1970s for presenting plays in new and interesting ways. In 1970 he moved to France and set up an experimental theatre company in Paris which became internationally famous for its new versions of works such as the ancient Indian story The Mahabharata .
