an English painter who is considered to be one of the greatest English landscape artists. He often painted scenes from the countryside of East Anglia , especially along the River Stour, an area that is now described in tourist advertisements as Constable Country . One of the most famous of these paintings is The Hay Wain . A large collection of his work was given by his daughter to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
