a famous American frontiersman from Tennessee . He was also a soldier with General Andrew Jackson and a politician, being elected to the US Congress (1827–31 and 1833–5). He was killed at the Alamo . Many stories are told of his life. Walt Disney made a television series about him in the 1950s and the film Davy Crockett (1955).
