Meaning of CUM LAUDE in English

( in the US ) the Latin expression, meaning ‘with praise’, used to indicate a high academic achievement of a college or university student who has completed his or her studies. It is the lowest of the three highest grades and is shown on the diploma (= document awarded for completing a course of study).
