the leader of a group of hippies , called his ‘family’. In 1969 the group, acting on Manson’s orders, murdered seven people including the actor Sharon Tate near Los Angeles . Manson and four of his followers were sent to prison for life. The murders changed many people’s attitude towards hippies.
