Meaning of OBE in English

( in full Officer of the Order of the British Empire )

a British honour that is given by the queen or king to people who have done something special for their country in any activity, including sport, entertainment, politics and business. People who receive it may put the letters OBE after their name. It is the fourth highest honour within the Order of the British Empire , above an MBE but below a CBE (Commander of the British Empire):
