the organization responsible for post office services in Britain and part of the Royal Mail Group plc. It has more than 16 500 branches, from large post offices in cities to sub-post offices in small towns, which are sometimes part of a shop selling other goods. British people use their local post office to send letters and parcels, and also to pay bills and get official documents such as tax discs and television licences .
