I . John D Rockefeller

( John Davison Rockefeller 1839–1937)

a US businessman who became very rich as the owner and President of the Standard Oil Company. In 1911 he gave the business to his only son, John D Rockefeller Junior (1874–1960) and then gave about $500 million of his own money for good causes. He established the Rockefeller Foundation and the University of Chicago (1892).

II . Nelson Rockefeller

(1908–79)

the 41st Vice-President of the US (1974–7) and only the second not to be elected. Gerald Ford chose him after replacing Richard Nixon as President. Rockefeller had earlier been Governor of New York (1959–73). He tried and failed three times to be the Republican Party candidate for President. He was the second son of John D Rockefeller Junior.
