Meaning of TYNESIDE in English

an area of north-east England around the River Tyne , including Newcastle-upon-Tyne , Gateshead and South Shields. Tyneside was formerly an important centre for the shipbuilding and coal-mining industries, but the area now has a lot of unemployment. People from Tyneside are informally called Geordies .
