Meaning of WYCLIFFE in English

( c. 1330–84)

an English writer on religion who criticized various bad practices that were common in the Church at that time. He said that the Bible, not the Church, was the most important religious authority, and was involved in translating the Bible into English. The group who supported his beliefs were called Lollards.
