[Other] In the New Testament, Mary Magdalene was a woman from the town of Magdala, near Tiberias. She is identified from the earliest times with a sinning woman described as having anointed the Lord's feet and with Mary the sister of Martha, who also anointed Jesus Christ. Jesus healed her of evil spirits and appeared to her after his resurrection. Her feast day is July 22.
