Meaning of NYCTEUS in English

[Greek heroic] The king of Thebes, father of Antiope, and son of Hyrieus. When his daughter was seduced by Zeus and had gotten pregnant, she fled in shame to Epopeus, king of Sicyon, who married her. Nycteus, on his deathbed, charged his brother Lycus with the task of returning his daughter to Thebes. Lycus marched with an army to Sicyon, destroyed the city and killed Epopeus.
