COEFFICIENT OF MOLECULAR DIFFUSION

(1) The rate at which solutes are transported at the microscopic level due to variations in the solute concentrations within the fluid phases. (2) The rate of dispersion of a chemical caused by the kinetic activity of the ionic or molecular constituents. Also referred to as the Diffusion Coefficient. See Molecular Diffusion.
