RETENTION FACILITY

A stormwater storage facility that normally holds water at a controlled level to serve functions such as recreation, aesthetic, and water supply. Stormwater runoff is temporarily stored above the controlled stage. Examples of types of retention storage reservoirs are permanent ponds in residential and commercial areas and in open spaces.
