DISCARD


Meaning of DISCARD in English

1. To release or return fish to the sea, whether or not such fish are brought fully on board a fishing vessel (US Department of Commerce, 1996).

2. Part of the catch, which is not retained and is returned to the sea. While some species (clams, sea stars, etc.) might survive to the process, most fish will die.
