Wireless Application Protocol; specification of a secure communications protocol to support access to information over wireless devices such as mobile phones, pagers, two-way radios, and PDAs. WAP is controvertial in that the standard is rather closed and centers on cell phone carriers -- making competing standards appear less proprietary and more useful. See also WML .
