(1900–71) a US ↑ jazz musician, band leader, and singer, who played the ↑ trumpet and was also known as ‘Satchmo’. He is considered to be one of the most important jazz musicians ever, and his low rough singing voice is easy to recognize. He also appeared in many films.

(1930– ) an American ↑ astronaut who was the first man to step onto the Moon, in 1969. As he did so, he said, ‘That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’.
