Edward I, King /ˌedwəd ðə ˈfɜːst $ -wərd ðə ˈfɜːrst/ BrE AmE

(1239–1307) the king of England from 1272 until his death. He took part in the CRUSADES , and later established English control over Wales. He tried to do the same in Scotland, but was unsuccessful.
