Meaning of ANGEVIN DYNASTY in English

Descendants of a 10th-century count of Anjou (the source of the adjective Angevin).

The Angevin dynasty overlaps with the house of Henry II , Richard I , and John . Henry established the Angevin empire in the 1150s when he took control of Normandy, Anjou, Maine, and, through his marriage to Eleanor , Aquitaine. When he became the king of England in 1154, Henry extended the Angevin holdings from Scotland to the Pyrenees. English claims to French territory led to the Hundred Years' War ; by 1558 the English had lost all their former French lands.
