Shallow saline lake, north-central Algeria.
At the bottom of an arid depression in the Hodna Plain, it acts as an interior drainage basin. It is subject to extreme evaporation and varies in size; it is often dry. Roman and premodern settlement is evident in the vicinity, but there is little modern development.
