Meaning of LUTITE in English

Any fine-grained sedimentary rock consisting of clay-or silt-sized particles (less than 0.0025 in., or 0.06 mm, in diameter) that are derived principally from nonmarine (continental) rocks.

Laminated lutites and lutites that split easily into thin layers are usually called shales . Other lutites may be called claystones, siltstones, or mudstones.
