Medieval principality, east-central Europe.

It comprised the city of Tver and surrounding towns. Founded in 1246, it rivaled Moscow for supremacy in northeastern Russia during the 14th–15th centuries. It ultimately was annexed to Moscow under Ivan III in 1485.
