shrewish wife of Antipholus of Ephesus in Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. A jealous and nagging wife, Adriana is quick to suspect her husband of infidelity when the quadruple misunderstandings begin. She stands in contrast to her sister, Luciana, who is of a milder disposition. Her mother-in-law, the abbess Emilia, opens Adriana's eyes to her jealous and harsh behaviour.
