ANANDA BAZAR PATRIKA

Meaning of ANANDA BAZAR PATRIKA in English

morning daily Bengali-language newspaper published in Calcutta, one of India's largest non-English-language newspapers in terms of circulation. Ananda Bazar Patrika was founded in 1922 and is something of a rarity among newspapers in Indian languages, most of which do not attain circulations of more than a few thousand. The newspaper, which also publishes an Allahabad edition, rivals the country's most widely circulated daily, the English-language Indian Express. Ananda Bazar Patrika's circulation far outstrips that of the country's most influential papers, the Times of India, the Statesman, and the Hindu.
