Meaning of ANAPOLIS in English

town, south-central Gois state, south-central Brazil, on the Corumb River, 3,182 feet (970 m) above sea level. It was given city status in 1907. Today it is a rapidly growing frontier town serving a zone of pioneer settlement near an island of forest, the Mato Grosso de Gois. Anpolis is a busy commercial centre with attractive squares, such as Praa Bom Jesus, and is the northwestern terminus of railroads leading inland from coastal Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo. It has an airport and is also strategically situated on the highway linking Braslia, the national capital, with Goinia, the state capital, and with So Paulo. The region's livestock, xarque (jerked beef), coffee, rubber, corn (maize), wheat, and minerals (rock crystals, nickel, copper, manganese, phosphate, and tin) are sent to Brazil's largest urban markets.
