ARTHAPATTI

(Sanskrit: the incidence of a case), in Indian philosophy, the fifth of the five means of knowledge (pramana) by which man obtains accurate knowledge of the world. Arthapatti is knowledge arrived at by circumstantial implication. See pramana.
