BIOLITH


Meaning of BIOLITH in English

any sediment formed from the remains of living organisms or through the physiological activities of organisms. Bioliths are sometimes identifiable as fossil plants or animals. Caustobioliths are combustible and include all sediments used for fuel, such as peat, coal, or petroleum. Acaustobioliths do not burn; they include carbonate, phosphate, and siliceous sediments.
