born Sept. 2, 1948, Shreveport, La., U.S. American professional football quarterback for the National Football League (NFL) Pittsburgh Steelers. He led his team to four American Football Conference (AFC) championships (197475, 197879) and, all four times, to Super Bowl victories. Bradshaw was the star quarterback during his last two years at Louisiana Technical University (Ruston). He was signed by the Steelers in 1970 as their first draft choice but did not come into his own until 1974, when the Steelers won their first championship. He led the league in average yardage gained by passing (197778).
