BRITTANY

French Bretagne, Breton Breiz, rgion in northwestern France encompassing the dpartements of Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, Ctes-d'Armor, and Finistre, and roughly coextensive with the historical province of Brittany. The capital is Rennes. The region is bounded by the dpartements of Manche to the north, Mayenne and Maine-et-Loire to the east, and Loire-Atlantique to the south. The Bay of Biscay lies to the southwest and the English Channel to the north.
